Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Season's Greetings, everyone! 2007 has been a very good year for me. I had a great ski trip, I changed jobs again and it's going pretty well. We had another exciting but ultimately tainted Tour de France, I bought some new toys, and I have a newly redecorated study in which to type my blog entries.
As far as the site goes, I finally moved the hosting over to Go Daddy when my previous host sold off that portion of their business, Go Daddy has more features, is cheaper, and seems to be more reliable. I only regret that I waited so long to do it. After some experimenting I added a Twitter posts to the main page. I wrote an article about how to check your email from more than one computer.
I have probably posted less this year than in previous years, in part because I decided to stop posting personal stuff (like what I had for lunch) after I saw this book by Margaret Mason about blogging titled No One Cares What You Had for Lunch: 100 Ideas for Your Blog

Here's a recent picture of me with one of the patron saints of corrosion engineers, Nikola Tesla. It was wet and icy (this statue is very close to Niagara Falls) so I was too scared to climb up on his lap, as my "friends" were encouraging me to do for this picture.
Our football weekend went to Buffalo this year, and while the game wasn't close (it was 55-10) we got to see what could be the best football team ever in the New England Patriots. It's yet to be determined if they can go all the way, but thus far they're 16-0 in the regular season and looking awfully strong. I could be telling my grandkids how I saw the '07 Pats play.
For 2008 I hope to do the redesign I've been talking about for a couple of years now, and I hope to post a little more as well. I think once a week is about minimum if anyone is going to read this site. According to Google analytics, about 450 unique visitors to the site, with about 75% bounce rate (people who visit one page and then leave). The people who did stay stayed an average of more than 2 minutes, which is a long time for a personal blog, I think. I had visits from 23 different countries, on 6 continents (amazing!). My article about checking email from different computers was the most popular traffic from search engines with three visits.
If you are interested in keeping up with my posts, and you use a newsreader, here's the RSS feed. If you don't use a newsreader, and you have a few blogs that you try to keep up with, I highly recommend the Google Reader. It's very easy to set up and it saves a bunch of time going out and looking at sites to see if they have any new stuff.
That's all for now, stay in touch, give me a call or write me a note at web AT hevle DOT com, and have a great 2008.
