First Anniversary of Drew's Blog
Some of the things I've learned:
1) I can't write something every day, but I have enough good ideas to write something every couple of days, if I can make the time
2) Blogs are more fun with links and pictures

This is a picture of my sister Kira with my nephew Mason (my brother Rick's youngest boy). Aaron, Kira and I went to Splashtown last year with Rick, Claire and the three boys, Callum, Braden, and Mason.
3) Blogger is the greatest. You should use it too. It's free and very easy.
4) Never post about your undefeated fantasy football team. You will immediately lose the next three in a row. Also, never post about your local baseball team being one game away from their first World Series appearance. They'll lose the next two. I'm not superstitious, but it's only prudent.
5) More people will read it than you think. I have been really pleased with how many people have told me that they read the blog to keep up with what's going on in my life. Thanks. I'm going to turn on the comments feature for this post, I'd like to see how it works.
6) People you really didn't think would read your blog will read it. Several guys from work mentioned that they've seen it, so I have to be careful. Er, not that there's anything to hide! It's funny, a guy took my "Helmetcam" picture to use in a flyer for one of the presentations I made. I definitely need to rewrite my Work page.
7) There's lots of cool blogs out there, and I'm experimenting with news accumulators (they go out and collect the latest posts and put them in one place). As soon as I learn a little more, I'll post a how-to.
So, while I intended this to be a daily diary of sorts, it's ended up more like a collection of occasional thoughts. Which is fine. I am writing more, and that's the whole purpose.

Go Astros!

I'm suspending my usual pessimism and I'm going to say that I think that they can do it.

Subject: Latest scam...
Importance: High
I hate when people forward these warnings as much as anyone, but this one is important!
If someone comes to your front door saying they are conducting a survey on deer ticks and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around, do not do it! IT IS A SCAM; they only want to see you naked.
I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid now...
You have to take these warnings with a grain of salt, because a lot of them are just spam. You have to check them out, for example, Hoaxbusters or snopes.com. They even have a cool What's New section.

NANCYBOYZ.COM WIN STREAK ENDS, STILL LEAD KFFL
HOUSTON, TX The win streak ends at eight games, falling to the second-place Wandering Snails in a nail-biter that ended late Monday night with the Snails up by a single point. This ends a winning streak that started last season, including the playoffs and Superbowl wins that have the dominating boyz.com winning 12 of their last 13 and 15 of their last 17 games. The nancyboyz.com franchise is co-owned by Drew Hevle and Kevin Kerner. Mr. Hevle was in good spirits, saying, "well, all good things must come to an end. It's been a great run, and much props are due the Wandering Snails. They had a great week, and just outplayed us." Mr. Kerner could not be reached for comment, and did not return phone calls.

Moving Day

Tomorrow I'm going to ride light rail:

Thursday I'm going to try the city bus.

At least I won't have to deal with Houston traffic.
