Wes Anderson commercial

I'm a big fan of indie movies, and I love director Wes Anderson. Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums are among my favorite movies, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is pretty good, too. I was reading a little bit about him on Wikipedia and IMDb to try to find out something about his next movie, and I ran across this American Express commercial. Hilarious!

Cool Photo of the Day

I ran across this picture of a plane landing at Princess Juliana International Airport in St.Maarten / St.Martin (the island of St. Maarten / St. Martin is the smallest landmass in the world shared by two nations. The northern side [St. Martin] is governed by the French and the southern side [St. Maarten] is one of the five island territories that make up the semi autonomous country of the Netherlands Antilles, part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands).

At first I was sure it was photoshopped, so I did a little looking around, and there is a straight-on view here, and I found a video of another landing. Pretty cool.

Cool video

I watched this video called "Noah takes a photo of himself everyday for 6 years" on YouTube, this guy took a picture of himself 2356 days in a row. I bet you can guess that he's a photographer. He took the individual pictures and made them into a movie. It's set to

He doesn't move around as much as I would have expected, he must have edited the pictures so that his head is about in the same place in the frame, and he has almost the exact same facial expression in every picture, a kind of sad, languishing expression, you can catch the beginning of what might be a smile every now and then, but it goes away and your left with an even darker feeling. The video takes about 5 minutes, and the backgrounds change so quickly you can't see any of the detail. You can see hair growing and abruptly getting short again. The music adds to the overall somber mood, but if it was set to something upbeat, like Yakety Sax for example, it wouldn't have the same power.

More on Drew on NPR

I looked at today's Morning Edition show here, and it doesn't look like the story I was interviewed for will be on today. They said it would probably be today or tomorrow, so . One thing I did learn was that I can access any of the stories from the show on their website, and just browsing I saw three or four things that looked interesting:
How to Succeed with Fantasy Football
Katie Couric Debuts at CBS News
Sept. 11: 'The Day Nothing Much Changed'

Pretty cool.
