Tampa
We had our annual football weekend last weekend in Tampa, it was a blast. My brother Rick came along, there were eight of us this year, we rented a couple of beach houses and rented a boat on Saturday. The game was great, too, with the Buccaneers beating the Redskins on Sunday, and the local fans were excited. I went in a couple of days earlier to visit with a friend, and we visited a couple of Florida State Parks and did some hiking. I got some nice pictures of birds, including blue heron, but I didn't get to see any alligators. Disappointing. I was going to try to wrestle one.

Primo
Last night T.J. and I went to see Primus at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Bayou Place (downtown Houston). If you don't know who Primus is, you might think they're a heavy-metal band, but that's far from the truth. They are extremely difficult to categorize, because no other band sounds like Primus. They're probably most reknowned for songs like "Jerry is a Race Car Driver" and "My Name is Mud" but they also wrote the theme song for South Park and Robot Chicken. Les Claypool is an awesome bass player, and the leader of the band, and unfortunately the lead vocalist as well. It was my first time at a Primus show, and we were down on the floor, about one or two rows outside the mosh pit. It wasn't too rough down there, although we got bumped a couple of times. Everyone was chanting the traditional Primus anthem "Primus sucks!"
The opening band was called Drums and Tuba. They sounded like a cross between King Crimson, Radiohead, and Rage Against the Machine. When we heard the name, Tony and I decided to grab some sushi instead, but we caught the last half of their set. Next time we'll be sure to see them from the beginning.
